LTC Alphin created all the machinery and procedures for the manufacture of A-Square products (including rifles, handguns, cartridge cases, bullets, etc). Though he no longer operates factories, he has a personal machine shop wherein he can create almost any exemplar, or duplicate any process, as may be needed for trial.
These skills were critical in creating an exemplar in the Dean case, in creating an exemplar in the 4 Sailors case, in creating a dis-assembly tool for a falling block rifle (for safety of the public), and for creating a fail-safe for “powder driven” nail guns used in residential and commercial construction
